    Story

Jane Owen and her partner have retired police dogs Dusty and Jack. Dusty benefitted from the Benevolent Fund’s donation in the past year and Jane was so grateful for the support with Dusty’s veterinary bills. As a result Jane who was accepted to run the London Marathon has decided to dedicate her run to help raise awareness and monies so that the Fund can continue to support West Midlands‘ amazing police dogs. In addition the run will also be in memory of Retired PD Zeb.

Retired police dogs do not receive any ongoing financial support from the Police Force and the cost of keeping them and paying for vets bills falls to the handler or the new adopter. Because of the work undertaken by the police dogs it is difficult and sometimes impossible to obtain medical insurance cover in retirement.

The Retired WMP Dog Benevolent Fund helps pay for the ongoing care and treatment of retired police dogs. It is completely independent from the Police Force and is dedicated to helping those looking after the dogs following a working life serving and protecting communities. All monies raised by the Fund is spent on the dogs’ care.
