I believe that it is possible to create a better world in which all people have their basic rights fulfilled and conditions to became what they want to be. This year I took on the challenge to fundraise for TETO/TECHO so we can build 100 houses for families who live in favelas in Brazil.

Currently, more than 11 million people live in favelas in Brazil, many in extremely precarious situations. Deprived of access to basic rights such as decent and safe housing and access to clean water and sewage collection.

Imagine living in a house with no floor, which is invaded by sewage water every time it rains, easily accessible for animals and with a structure so unstable that it makes you feel afraid of the house collapsing whenever it rains, or winds are strong. Imagine having a baby you cannot let play or crawl on the floor because he might be bitten by a mouse or eat the rat poison that has been spread over the floor. Unfortunately, this is a widespread reality in most Brazilian slums and we want to change this. The construction of a house with a floor above the ground, with windows and a stable roof structure, makes a world of difference to the lives of these families.

TETO/TECHO is a Latina American Non-Profit Organisation that works with families and volunteers to transform this reality, to move towards a juster and less unequal society. But for this to happen, we need as much help as we can get, and that's why I am reaching out to you. You may not know it, but you have the power to make an enormous difference to people's lives by supporting our campaign. I have been a volunteer for a few years and since the first day I stepped in a favela and met some of the people who work so hard and struggle to change their lives, I decided that I had to do something about it, so I am fundraising part of the funds to build 100 houses in July for families who live in very precarious conditions.
