Story
The recent World Autism Awareness Week raised the profile of autism. More than one in 100 people are on the autism spectrum in the UK – an estimated 700,000 people. But, as these figures compiled by The National Autistic Society (NAS) demonstrate, awareness is not enough. What autistic people really need is your understanding.
These children often times fail to recognize basic facial emotions, which make social interactions and developing friendships even more difficult to sustain. Gaining these skills requires intensive behavioral interventions that are often expensive, difficult to access, and inconsistently administered.
We team up with brain science-driven software Brain-Power to transform wearables like Glass™ into neuro-assistive devices for the educational challenges of autism. We take an approach that embraces the state of the art in neuroscience and neurotechnology, and yet centers on the human nature of social interactions and other challenges.
We collect and harness numerical brain-based and behavioral data scientifically and rigorously, yet we interact with the child and family based on insights and answers they can readily understand. We aim to provide hope, clarity, understanding, social integration, and community.
WHAT WE ADDRESS IS AUTISM IS A COMPLEX SPECTRUM THAT NO ONE FULLY UNDERSTANDS YET, AND EACH PERSON IS UNIQUE. WE HAVE IDENTIFIED 4 KEY EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGES THAT FACE MANY CHILDREN ON THE SPECTRUM AND FOCUSED OUR TOOLS ON THEM.
1. Social Interactions
2. Language and/or Speech Therapy
3. Behavioural Control
4. A Combined Approach to Problem Solving
