    Story

We are a community youth hub providing a safe and secure environment for young people where they can develop as individuals through physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Currently Snak Shak has a permanent youth worker and a trainee who are working within the community to teach life skills to young people such as Young Drivers courses and providing guidance in this key part of their lives. Our dedicated group of volunteers provide support and encouragement in a non-judgemental environment so that they can be at ease and speak freely about the day to day challenges they face.

The support given by Snak Shak helps to create opportunities that leads to further education, apprenticeships and employment. It also helps our young people to achieve healthier, happier lives by tackling social exclusion, poverty, disability, mental and physical health issues.

The money that is being raised will provide further opportunities for the young people. The money will also go towards the training of a new youth worker to work alongside the permanent one and give more contact time to young people. This fund raising will also give us the opportunity to provide a boys and girls group after school for more education and support sessions for the young people.

Selsey is a peninsula in the south of England and is about 8miles from Chichester which can lead to isolation issues. The south of England is generally viewed as affluent and depravation can often be obscured because of this with the needs of children not only less likely to be addressed but the costs of local goods and services are often a barrier to their development. In the Chichester District Selsey has four regions in the top ten of most deprived areas in the region (CDC 2010).

Snak shak is here to help address these issues and has helped hundreds of children since it was stated in 2007 through passionate volunteers and dedicated staff but we need your help. With funding we can help many more so please make a difference to a childs life in Selsey.
