    Story

Please read our story below but we have an important update, Angie Hough is running the Liverpool Marathon and James McKay is cycling Lands End to John O'Groats for The Aurora Fund!

Here is what they have to say:

Angie - I started running about 3 years ago now. As a mum of 9, I was suffering from depression due to my daughters behaviour (she was having a few issues at school). It was my release from the stresses in life. I never imagined I would actually love it. I started going to penkridge runners, that is where I found my love for running. I’ve now done 2 half marathons, soon a 3rd as doing Stafford half again. But this will be my first marathon, it will be a big challenge but one I can not wait to achieve.

James - Mark Simkins, Rob Harnett, Richard Mckay and I are going to cycle 1192 miles at an impressive 94425 ft ascent over 17 days 01/06-17/06/18 that’s climbing Everest 3.25 times from sea level! Dig deep and show your support. Follow is on Facebook here @idiotonabike We will be posting videos and photos along the way

Angie and James would like anyone who is interested in sponsoring them to donate here. We wish them all the best and heartfelt thanks for doing this for Laura's fund.

On 12th May 2017 my beautiful 22 year old sister died from bowel cancer. She had dreams, she wanted to see the Northern Lights, climb Machu Picchu and marry her fiancé Ben. Laura was a student with a bright future in Geology ahead of her but with no opportunity to save at that point in her life. We tried to look for ways of making these dreams come true. There was no funding available. There are charities that make children's dreams come true but for young adults we found nothing. We began fundraising and people were very generous but by the time we had the money to send her on her dream trip she was too ill to travel.

We, her family, have decided to give other young adults with cancer, the opportunity to do what Laura couldn't. We have started a charity called the Aurora Fund in her memory. Please help us to help them.

Our brave cyclists have crossed the border into Scotland now and are over half way through their journey from Lands End to John O’Groats. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. If you haven’t donated yet, there is still time! Just a small amount matters, if everyone donated £1, we would smash our target.
