In October 2016, our nephew Callum was born in Elgin, Scotland. Unfortunately it was immediately apparent that Callum required Emergency Specialist Medical help and was airlifted 200 miles away to Glasgow by the Coastguard.

During the 3 months that Callum remained in Intensive Care, Callum's family was assisted greatly by Ronald McDonald House. A home from home for families with poorly children in hospital. The House provides free accomodation for as long as a family requires.

As an independent charity, Ronald McDonald House relies on the support and generosity of volunteers, fundraisers and donors, and thanks to their tireless efforts the House is able to help over 500 families each year. It is their mission to ensure they have sufficient funds and expertise to develop and sustain free accommodation at every specialist children’s hospital in the UK. This will allow the House to help thousands more families stay together while their child is in hospital for the years to come.

During what was an incredibly distressing and anxious time for Callum's family, the situation was made infinitely better by the wonderful staff and volunteers at the House.

As a 'Thank you' to Ronald McDonald House, at the end of May 2018, Callum's daddy Andrew and his friend, Gary will be running an ultra-marathon from Callum's home in Lossiemouth down to Glasgow. The distance is over 220 miles in which they aim to run 32 miles per day for 7 days completing sections of The Great Glen Way and The West Highland Way with overnight camping. This is a huge personal challenge for both Andrew and Gary for a very worthy cause.

We hope to raise funds to help the House help other families in the future like they have helped ours.
