We are now taking part in the Mongol Rally Poles of Inconvenience! The challenge starts in the Orkney Islands and ends in Georgia… to make things more difficult we’ve going to continue on a trip around the Stan's to see how far East we can get (and back). Only a few more thousand miles… can’t be that difficult?🌵

We aim to be as sustainably conscious possible throughout the voyage, demonstrating that long distance travel can be done in an environmentally conscious and sustainable manner. This will be achieved by carbon offsetting our fuel, using items such as zero waste washing products, aiming to plant a native tree in each country we pass through and surviving as frugally as possible by camping, fishing and foraging for our food. If possible for sections of the journey we will live entirely off the land. When not possible we will reduce our single use plastic consumption and store non recyclables to create a "plastic swear jar" to make us aware of how much plastic we use.

Which Charities?

Cool Earth - Charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change. Putting local people, who are uniquely suited to manage and protect the rainforest, first. This is in line with our values of caring for the environment, decreasing our impact, and leading a more sustainable lifestyle. https://www.coolearth.org

MNDA - The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by Motor Neurone Disease. This charity is close to our hearts as Oscars beloved grandfather died from Motor Neurone Disease in 2016. Motor Neurone is a fatal neurological disease that affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and kills five people everyday, a third within two years of diagnosis and half within 14 months. It has no cure. I want to raise funds for expert researchers to change this. Just £75 can fund a researcher for half a day. My target is to fund as many days as possible. It will lead to a new and better understanding of this condition and will bring us closer to a cure. The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust - is a small local charity that aims to protect and maintain the islands flora and fauna as well as important archeological sites. The islands are home to a wide variety of sea birds and marine mammals which are under human threats. As it is such a small charity each donation, whatever size, has a massive impact on island species. Your donations help to fund important projects such as sea grass protection, wetland restoration and conservation of the many animals that call Scilly home.https://www.ios-wildlifetrust.org.uk/

Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal - More than 4 million people have fled Ukraine since the conflict began. The initial £500 raised must go to the official Mongol Rally Charity (Cool Earth) anything over this will be split equally between the other charities.
