Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
A team of three are cycling 85 miles to help raise funds to support The Soup Dog Foundation in their fight against food poverty! The team will cycle a loop from Manchester to Liverpool and back to Manchester on 11 June!
The need for charity-sourced food in the UK is rising. The UK's largest food bank network, Trussell Trust, reported that in the financial year 2016/17, the requirement for emergency three-day food parcels increased by 6.6% from the previous financial year. 1,182,954 individuals required emergency food supplies, 37% of whom were children. Regionally, the north-west of England recorded the highest number of individuals requiring emergency food supply.
Throughout this period, the leading causes of food poverty were low income, and delays and changes to benefits. Other causes included homelessness and ill-health.
There is a genuine and urgent requirement to supply families, elderly people and homeless people with food.
The Soup Dog Foundation was set up in April 2017 to address this need.
Our Vision: Striving to ensure every person has access to the food they need when they need it.
Our Mission: Working with communities to provide practical and social assistance to any person experiencing food poverty.
The Soup Dog Foundation is committed to bringing together communities in order to achieve the best possible results. We believe in:
Social responsibility. Every individual and organisation has a responsibility to the society in which they live and work. It is a duty and a privilege, and forms the foundation of our work.
Collaboration. Forging relationships across communities to achieve a better, more sustainable result. Social networking to reach as many communities as sustainably possible.
Empowerment. Empowering volunteers through encouraging initiative to contribute to success.
Excellence. Setting ambitious goals and acting with passion, compassion and commitment in order to achieve them.
