I found out on thursday night that our old next door neighbours son had been involved in a horrific bike accident and he was in a coma in critical condition in icu..we contacted the family his mom and girlfriend to see if we could visit the next day..taking anything they needed or helping in anyway we could at this tragic time..when we got to the hospital we were told it was hour by hour..he had a serious head trauma the right side of his skull had been removed to reduce pressure hed had 2 immediate operations..,a punctured lung and 2 broken legs..stephen is only 22 the same age as my daughter and a year older than my son..he was in a really bad way..we spent the day praying and telling him what had happend..the nurses said to talk to him so i did..i told him i new he could hear me and that i understood how he felt that he was going to be ok and to stay calm..that his sedation was going to be reduced to see what happened..he didnt react well and was resedated..we went home later that day exhausted and feeling helpless..a young family in desperate need..his girlfriend laura only 22 herself was absolutely amazing staying calm and focused..the next day my daughter went again and they reduced his sedation im extatic to say he is out of his coma but still heavily sedated and paralised down his left side..what could we do to help..she doesnt drive and with stephen being the one who goes to work while laura stays at home looking after the children they now have no money coming in..she is struggling with no transport and stephen is going to need a lot of support to recover over a long period of time..its still early days only day 5..we need to raise as much money as possible for this young family to help ease the financial burden they are facing..i will keep you all updated on ste's progress..thankyou for taking the time to read ste and lauras story..please share this thankyou for your support xxx
