This is my brother Chris’s story.

So here goes my life in 2018,

I started my own business in January after the corporate world sucked the life out of me of which I had finally had enough of the late nights and constant reports when the answer was always the same.

Although I am very grateful for the experience and the knowledge I gained throughout my career, I still ask myself,was it really worth it and did I put my career first before family and my health?

So between January and April, I struggled to eat any solid foods and lost about 30kg in weight, which was not normal for me who’s weight usually fluctuated between 90-100kg.

I then decided to visit my GP and was referred to a surgeon who had a look down my esophagus with a scope to see what was going on.

I received the worst news a few days later that I had been diagnosed with esophagus cancer and a tumor between 7-8cm had aggressively taken up residence between my stomach and esophagus.

Well,anyone who has had this discussion with a surgeon knows what I am talking about when you get that sinking feeling that I am now going to die,because everyone dies from cancer🤕.This is what I had floating around in my mind for the next few days,how long do I have left and when would this end?

As a strong person and decided that I was going to fight this disease until the end.After 7 months of Chemotherapy and feeling like S@$t every week,I asked my self,why me and what had I done to deserve this killer disease?

Well,7 months later and two different Aggressive cocktails and 3 surgeries,nothing had worked 🤬 and the cancer had mutated to my liver with several spots appearing on the scans,so what next?

A liver biopsy last Friday (painful) and blood taken today and sent to Belgium for a test trial against 150 different drugs which could potentially destroy this disease.🤞🏻

So I guess it is now a waiting game for the next 2 weeks to see what poison they are going to inject me with.

I never in my wildest dreams thought that I had the strength to take this disease head on however you always need to remain positive and active,otherwise there is no hope.

It is also during these times that you need forgive and forget the negative things that have happened in the past and spend every day with your loved ones as the rest does not really matter.Family is forever!!!

If this next session does not work,then I have no idea how to move forward,as eventually the pain and suffering needs to come to an end.

I am not normally someone who sends out this type of message,but if you are struggling with something similar or know someone who is battling with cancer,spare them a minute of your time as all of the positive support helps to keep you driving forward.

After my brother posted this he has found out his medical insurance will no longer pay for any new treatments, so I am trying to raise a bit of money to help towards any new treatment he will need.
