This summer, a group of twelve students from the University of Glasgow will be travelling to the island of Tobago to carry out research and conservation work on endangered marine turtles and local amphibian and bat species.

Turtle meat is a delicacy in Tobago and unfortunately, although illegal, poaching is a major problem on the island. Regular beach patrols are required to combat this and maintain turtle populations.

In addition to this we will be carrying out research into local amphibian populations and bat ecology.

We will also be visiting a local community group to give a talk to raise awareness of the work we do, why it's important and what they can do to protect the wildlife on their doorstep.

The team has been working really hard all year to put on fundraising events but the cost of the expedition runs high due to specialist equipment required and the long duration of the expedition.

We hope to gain your support for our cause and help us create a safer, brighter future for the wildlife of Tobago.
