    Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

On 3rd August I’ll be undertaking a 48-hour sponsored 300-mile bike ride from London to Paris with my sister Laura in memory of one of my best friends Ryan Cox whom we sadly lost to Bowel cancer on Friday 20th July.

As many of you will know, I originally planned to complete this cycling challenge to raise money to pay for some expensive treatment for Ryan, that isn’t available on the NHS.

Sadly, the cancer has beaten Ryan in a sudden and dramatic deterioration. The bike ride will still go ahead and I will now be donating the funds to help support his family.

Here’s a bit more about the challenge I’m taking on and the very worthy cause that I’m doing it for. Ryan Cox was 30 years old. He has left two children aged 2 and 6 years with his partner of 12 years, Lauren Foy. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was a regular at his local gym. In May 2017 Ryan was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He underwent chemotherapy immediately and after 3 months was given a date for an operation to remove the cancer. The hyperthermic intraperitoneal operation was a success and was followed by more chemotherapy to remove any remaining cancerous cells.

However, just 8 weeks later Ryan’s cancer had spread to his bowel, liver and lymph nodes. This was devastating news, he and his family enquired about other treatments that might be able to help him. One of those treatments was Immunotherapy - the treatment not available on the NHS and that I was originally raising money to help pay for.

As I am not an experienced cyclist I wanted to set myself a tough challenge to help raise as much money as possible for one of my best friends.

I have set myself a target of raising £2000 for this great cause so any donation you can make to help me reach this goal would be hugely appreciated. The smallest amount can make a big difference.

    Thank you in advance.
