Story
Hello!
I am doing my annual fund-raiser in order to purchase a large amount of food and arrange for it to be delivered to Lewisham food bank in advance of the festive break at the end of December. 26% of Lewisham residents are living in poverty and this time of year can be absolutely crippling for people who are often forced to choose between whether they can afford to eat or whether they can afford to put the heating on. This is an absolutely shameful state of affairs for a "developed" country to allow to go on, let alone a major capital city. My family live in the borough of Lewisham and we feel passionately about this issue.
Please, if you can just afford to donate £1, it would still really help me maximise my efforts – if you can afford more then that is obviously great too.
I'll be arranging a delivery from my local supermarket on the 19th of December and will post photos of the process.
Here're some stats….
4850 three-day emergency food parcels provided by the food bank in the last twelve months
Over 2016/2017, the food bank has been able to provide food to 20% more people than during the 2014/2015 period
26% of Lewisham residents are living in poverty
Thanks for looking
