Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
The Old Schoolroom housing Tom Browns School Museum in Uffington, is a Grade 2 listed building, founded in 1617 as a school for 12 worthy boys. This year it is celebrating 400 years of education & is the schoolroom that was featured in Tom Brown's Schooldays. Although small & compact, like all old buildings it needs a good deal of ongoing care & maintenance & regrettably a building survey has highlighted that repairs are required to the chalk walls including stabilising the south wall. The total cost is estimated at £50,000 & whilst over £10,000 has already been raised, there is still a £40,000 shortfall in funds.
The Old Schoolroom benefits the whole village, with Uffington Primary School celebrating Founders Day every year & the Brownies & Cubs visiting as part of their culture badge. Betjeman researchers utilise the vast collection of papers on loan from the family & the museum attracts visitors from all over the world who come to see the Uffington White Horse.
We hope that you will feel able to contribute to our appeal for funds & thank you in advance for your kind support.
