Story
In 2015 Tom started suffering from blackouts and short term memory loss but doctors and specialists were unable to find anything physically wrong at this stage. It wasn't until late in 2018 after significant testing that Tom was diagnosed with an extremely rare case of Familial Alzheimer's (Tom was only the 3rd diagnosed case globally). As Tom's condition rapidly deteriorated, he was moved to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability where he was looked after with great love and care by all of their wonderful staff. Tom fought bravely and remained in good spirits throughout his care and was rarely without his trademark smile.
With many of Tom's friends and family unable to visit during the Coronavirus pandemic, Tom's condition worsened and after a short but brave battle Tom peacefully died with his loving family by his side on 21st December 2020.
For more information on the RHN who did such a wonderful job with Tom please visit: https://www.rhn.org.uk/
Your kind donation will be shared between The Chiswick House and Gardens Trust where Tom will have a memorial bench in the grounds and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability who looked after Tom with such care. The RHN have a 'Patients Without Relatives Fund' which we are looking to support for those that are not lucky enough to have families to help them through their illnesses and provide some sense of normality, particular during Covid which has taken such a toll for them;
£15 buys a box of assorted art supplies, £30 provides a session of communication therapy, £50 provides two patients an hour leisure session, £60 provides an Aquability session, £100 funds the maintenance and upkeep of the Aquability pool for one month, £200 provides four portable devices such as talking message boards and £4,800 funds the physiotherapy equipment for a whole year.
Much love and gratitude from Tom's friends and family

3 years agoTo all of Tom’s Friends and Family, a quick thank you from me for your huge generosity in donating to the wonderful RHN who cared so warmly for Tom over the last years of his life. It is truly overwhelming to see the response from so many, a few even who were unfortunate enough to have never met Tom but still wanted to help out for such a great cause. The bench is now in situ by the cricket pitch in Chiswick Gardens so please do go along when you are next in the area (preferably with a dog of course). Thanks again, Fergus
