Story
My cousin Gemma Batchelor is going to do a sponsered head shave in January to raise money for her friend who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This is to help him to get the equipment he needs to have more independence at home like every 21 year old would like to.
DMD is a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle deterioration and weakness. This is due to the lack of a protein called dystrophin, which helps keep the muscle cells intact. There are only 2500 people in the UK who live with this condition.
My cousin Gemma has always done what she can to help this young man and doing this head shave shows how selfless she is. I think doing a head shave at 22 years old deserves everyones support - as I know I wouldn't be able to do something like this. No amount is to little, from £2 your donation 100% will go to help this young man. We are planning not to tell this young man till after the shave has been done.
