Yolanda, known as "Landy" by so many, was beautiful, kind and brave - truly amazing in every way. She grasped opportunities with both hands and packed so much into her 22 years.

Her life was taken very suddenly and cruelly last year and yet somehow through absolute heartbreak her family have used the love, support and resource they would have given her by setting up The Yolanda Moore Foundation. Yolanda wanted to work with children to make their lives better. She was passionate about stopping unkindness. She wanted to do all she could to make sure children were given the opportunities that would help them become great adults.

The Yolanda Moore Foundation aims to provide mentoring support to young people and give financial and practical support to them in order to achieve their goals. If there is something a young person wants to do, that will improve their life and career chances, and they need financial or practical help to do it, they will be there.

I've wanted to do something to contribute a positive difference for sometime knowing that it would need to be something drastic. I'm not going to be asking for money to pound the pavement running, a bake sale or even a sponsored silence. I'm going to shave my head. Correction; I'm going to shave my head and broadcast it on Facebook!

I'm well aware that this is going to change my appearance for some time and the hair straighteners won't see the light of day for a while but this is a charity and a cause that means so very much to me and I'm committed to raising as much money as I can to help continue the work that Yolanda would have been carrying out herself.
