As you all know I lost my grandad back in April after suffering a massive stroke. It was a big shock for us all but we would never of managed to get through each day without the help and support towards us a family but also the care my grandad received from all the staff at Gwenllian and Dewi ward at Carmarthen Hospital.
Over the past year and a half I have managed to loose 11 stone. I have always wanted to enter a half marathon but never got round to do it. But after loosing my grandad i have decided to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on the 1st October 2017 in memory of my grandad and to raise money for Gwenllian & Dewi ward.
Anyone at any age can suffer a stroke. It comes without any warning and it really can change your life forever.
The care my grandad received in the last 6 months of his life was outstanding. He managed to stay with us for a little longer due to the help, time, support & care he received from both wards. They really are a fantastic bunch of people. I am running this half marathon to give something back to both wards, but mainly to say thank you to all of them for doing what they did. Different equipment for them wards are expensive and are hard to purchase but if i can raise anything towards these equipments and be able to help different families who are going through what we went through i will so pleased.
