Weʼve raised £252 to contribute to the vet bills for Pointer Rescue Serbia until dogs are re-homed in the UK. I'm running the Glencoe Half Marathon in September

    Story

It is well known I have had a dislike for mud and getting my feet wet.
The Glencoe Half Marathon will be miles of mud, no tarmac, there will be hills big ones, my first proper off road half marathon and just to confirm it is 13.1 miles

In order to raise funds, I'm running the Glencoe Half Marathon in September 2018.

The funds will go to Pointer Rescue Serbia, an organisation that I have been following for a while, who are doing everything the right way but as we know it is costly.

POINTER Rescue Serbia's dogs are rescued from all kinds of situations in the Balkans with the sole aim of finding them suitable homes in the UK.

Pointers are Hunt, Point and Retrieve dogs (HPR), their natural instinct is to find, flush and hunt game and small mammals. In Serbia, that instinct is used but not necessarily trained. If you have ever trained a Pointer, you will know that it takes hours of work, praise, repetition, trust and a lot of care. Unfortunately, these dogs are often not given that training, so, on the slightest distraction, lack of recall, or when they are simply distracted by other things from their purpose to hunt, they are often discarded. Many are left to starve, or are found by dog catchers wandering the streets and are then taken to 'Kill Shelters' to be destroyed.

At POINTER Rescue Serbia they try to help as many of these dogs as we can. They are often found starving, unwanted, injured and in pain.

During the entire process they make sure that all the appropriate legal procedures are followed to enable the dogs to travel to the UK safely. Once they arrive in the UK they must stay at a DEFRA registered kennels for 48 hours, after which time they are ready to meet their new owner or fosterer.

Thank you so much for helping me in this cause!
