Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hello there and thanks for taking time to read this.
A few days ago I was browsing my local Facebook selling groups and came across a post by a lady (Tricia) who was asking for help.
Tricia simply asked if someone could loan or give her an old mobility scooter - which she would re-gift once she could afford her own.
In general Tricia received words of support from the selling group but I'm disappointed to say some people were less then helpful and actually trolled her with abuse, demonstrating their own ignorance and lack of compassion. It must have been incredibly hard to make that original post asking for help and the abuse she received was unnecessary.
I was delighted to read the more positive comments and also that some very kind people offered to donate money towards buying a mobility scooter for Tricia. Since then someone has very kindly been given Tricia a mobility scooter but it needs a little work to tidy it up and fix an electrical problem on it that causes it to cut out mid drive.
I'm hoping those that offered financial support towards a potential purchase may instead donate to help fixing up the one Tricia was given.
This page was setup with Tricia's permission and any money raised will go directly to her, if more money is raised than needed for the service, Tricia has suggested it goes to charity, I'll let her make that decision I'm just getting the ball (or scooter!) rolling.
Thanks for reading and thank you in advance for any donations to help this lady gain a little more independence.
