    Story

Originally Virgin Charity Adventurers had organised their second Caribbean Sail Challenge, but due to Hurricane Irma passing through the BVI’s it was cancelled.
Our Virgin spirit inspired us into wanting to do something productive to help out. After discussing ideas with Richard, Captain Chris Hall decided that it would be a great opportunity for us to go out and help with the rebuilding that was required on the island of Virgin Gorda, the nearest island to Necker and a vital part of the BVI community.
After further discussions with those involved in the local community we have assembled a group of 20-30 volunteers who are going out to help rebuild the damaged school on Virgin Gorda. So at some point during the second week of November the group have arranged to gather in Antigua before travelling onto the island town Tortola before travelling by ferry across to Virgin Gorda. We will spend approximately a week rebuilding the school. As part of this project we have been asked to attempt to source and bring with us some equipment. These items range from pressure washers and jack hammers to work gloves and safety glasses. So any donations towards purchasing and shipping these items would be gratefully received!

I am honoured to have been asked to go with the Virgin Charity group to help out because of my carpentry and heavy machinery operating experience. I could not refuse the opportunity to put my skills to good use and am really excited to be able to help. Primarily I am asking for contributions towards food, water, internal flights/transfers and a one night stop in Antigua on the return sector. All contributions above these costs will be donated to the cause.
