This is what RAFT are all about in their own words:

Set up on 31 August 2015 in response to the growing refugee crisis throughout Europe and the middle east, looking to send aid to those who need it from Calais through to Syria. We have linked up with local charities and organisations so that no donation goes to waste. Since that time we have sent just over 290 large van loads of aid (a van load is approximately 100 sorted boxes) to our partners who then undertake the logistics of getting aid into the camps and where it is needed. 75% of our shipments go into Syria through the Albayan Foundation, Anaya Aid, Handinhand Syria and others. We also work with charities in Northern France, Greece, the Balkans and Africa. Due to our central location we are now the biggest hub in the southwest receiving aid from north Devon, Exeter, Torbay, Dorset, West Somerset and as far north as South Bristol.

Whilst our main aim is to support refugees (including the resettled local families) we now work with local homeless and animal organisations to ensure no donation goes to waste and support local people as well. We are a completely voluntary organisation with no paid staff and also help to support local students, those with physical and mental health issues and tackle isolation.

We have set up a mend to send scheme and also have a women's empowerment project with links in central Africa using donated linens that would otherwise get landfilled.
