I have just returned from a skiing trip from Bulgaria, and to my horror as soon as i came out of the airport, there were starving dogs searching for food. On the airport transfer, I saw a dead dog in the road. When I reached my resort Bansko, there were many stray starving pregnant dogs roaming the streets, dodging traffic. When I asked locals about the dogs, they said they were shot, kicked, poisoned. Later that day, I came across a small dog that was heavily pregnant, and I vowed to my son that I was going to bring her back to the UK. Two days later, she disappeared, I searched the streets for three days, and when I found her, took her to a hotel that took pets pretending that she was mine, where she later gave birth to six puppies. This rescue sent someone on a 400 mile round trip journey to pick her up for me. She is currently looking after 300+ dogs, she feeds them, neuters them and generally sees to their welfare. She has no funding other than donations. I plan to pay for the mum and her six pups to come back to the UK, but I would like to help as much as possible in supporting the other 300 dogs. It truely is a horrific place
