    Story

I am a dialysis patient at The Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (end stage renal failure) at the end of June 2018, and I feel I owe so much to the team on the renal unit at the hospital, in the mornings when I would arrive for treatment (I changed to the late shift) I found out that the unit has a small 2 slice toaster which is used to make toast 6 days a week for the 18 beds on the renal unit and also there is limited access to entertainment although we do have access to free WiFi there is only one television on the main unit which can only be viewed by half of the patients on the unit.

So I would like to raise £2,000 to enable the renal unit to buy a new catering toaster to enable the staff to spend more time with patients and reduce the length of time taken to bring tea and toast to us patients to keep our blood sugars and pressure from getting too low whilst we are having our treatment, as well as 5 tablet computers and 5 portable dvd players for the use of patients as most are here for around 4 hours of treatment 3 days a week, entertainment is much more of a necessity for recently diagnosed in-patients

I hope it goes well. It must make it more difficult to spend so many hours on dialysis if there are not ways to take your mind off things and help make the time pass quicker.

Jake is an amazing man, he's kind hearted and funny, I'm glad he's still with us but without the help of those wonderful people inside he wouldn't have made it. Xx
