Information about The Uganda School Project:
The Uganda School Project was set up in 2016 by a group of friends, with the aim of supporting struggling schools in Uganda. During our first year we supported Makenya Primary School, in Eastern Uganda. We put a proper infrastructure in place which included the installation of clean water, 5 new classrooms, new teachers, sports programmes, health screening for the community, free lunch for the pupils and for the first time, clean and safe latrines.
2017 sees our return in Bumakenya primary school to oversee the construction of the final two classrooms, the establishing a sign language programme at the school for the local deaf community, setting up a social development project for pupils that have suffered trauma, and the developing of a micro-finance initiative for the local community that allows residents to pool together their resources and help them to help themselves out of poverty.
All of our volunteers are completely self funded, so 100% of the funds go where they should.
