We are two families of four who recently returned from a backpacking trip to Iran. In the Western world we have many ingrained fears about this country and to no surprise, not only ourselves we were anxious before departure, but we have also received many mixed reactions to our plans from others. We realised this destination was not only unusual, but also that too little is known about Iran apart from the news headlines. This is why we decided to turn this experience into something more far-reaching.

We have set up a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RigarduPersaAventuroj/ page with notes and pictures to show the Iran we have experienced:
"Rigardu Persa Aventuroj" means "take a look at our Persian Adventures" in Esperanto. Why Esperanto? because we like the idea of universal concepts that can unite all people; we want to encourage and promote international communication and action.
So yes, we Polish people living in England travelled to Iran and now are raising funds for German grassroots organisation operating in Serbia to help people from Syria and other countries.
Rigardu is an organisation that helps to ensure that refugees on the run have daily access to drinking water and the possibility of a shower - something that we don't take for granted whilst we travel.
