Story
** Journey updates can be found here **
We have all seen the heart-breaking images and news stories following the devastating attacks on Ukraine.
Children’s lives have been torn apart. The normality of family life, school, friendship and play has been shattered and many have been forced to abandon their homes and flee for hundreds of miles.
With barely any of the possessions they know and love, the children find themselves exhausted, scared and confused in a foreign country, often without loved ones they have had to leave behind.
We want to offer the tiniest crumbs of comfort by delivering children’s gifts and products to refugees at the Ukrainian / Polish border.
Leaving Newcastle on Friday April 1st, we will take our van - filled with as much as it will take – to Amsterdam, and then 1,500km to the border where everything that we have will be given to refugee children and their carers.
If even one child can lose themselves in a colouring book, or one mother gets enough food and nappies for her baby, then the trip will be worthwhile.
We will give regular online updates during the journey so you can see how your money is helping. All money spent will be fully documented and available for anyone to scrutinise, and if we have any donations left afterwards they will be passed on to a suitable support charity.
We are also really happy to receive brand new items rather than money, such as children's medicine, mindfulness activity books, coloured crayons or pencils, baby products or food - anything that can help a child or their carer look after them.
You can help these innocent victims of a conflict we never dreamed we would see again in Europe. Any donation you can give can make a huge difference.
