    Story

We are a third year Television Production crew from the University of Westminster, producing and filming a 15 minute documentary on baby loss.

Every day in the UK, 15 babies die before, during or soon after birth. That is around 3,200 stillbirths each year. Around 1,200 babies every year die after a full-term pregnancy (37 or more weeks) and for one in every three stillbirths, the reason for the baby’s death is unclear and the death is described as ‘unexplained’. This is because the cause of stillbirth is still not fully understood and further research is needed. The death of a baby has a profound and lasting impact on parents and the wider family, yet stillbirth and neonatal death is still very much an issue that society does not like to, or know how to talk openly about.

For an otherwise healthy baby to die undelivered near term is, with hindsight, an easily avoidable event. Research to make it avoidable in practice is a priority - Professor Jim Thornton, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Producer/Director, Shanie Lynch, will be skydiving 13,000ft on Wednesday 15th November 2017, so please dig deep in your pockets to help us get as much money as we can to raise awareness and funds for such a deserving topic.

We will be paying for the skydive ourselves, so funds raised will contribute towards our travel to interview these inspirational families and charities, and all remaining funds will go to a Stillbirth charity.

Thank you for taking the time to read our page and for donating!
