Story
Working with VESA, we will be going on a 3 week volunteering trip to Oceania.
We will be helping provide remote villages with access to fresh water, restore local school equipment and teach English to primary school children.
Our work will include:
.Constructing rain water catchment tanks
.Teaching English at local school
.Restoring the school equipment and buildings
.Living with a family in a traditional village to understand their culture and society
.Helping to run basic workshops demonstrating proper hygiene techniques
After moving on to another village, we will also help with the running of a Turtle Conservation Program with a group of intrepid volunteers. Working under the guidance of a marine biologist, we will gain a greater understanding of sea turtles and the ecosystems that they inhabit. From providing ongoing care for ‘Headstart Hatchlings’ – cleaning pools and foraging for dietary components to building new ponds and a turtle sick bay. There is so much to do and they need help!
We will learn about coral conservation and reef mapping, which involves snorkelling the crystal clear water to count the number and variety of fish, coral and other beautiful marine life then transplanting coral from healthy reefs to rebalance the fragile ecosystem.
We just need help getting there. The trip is £3,000 each and the three of us really want to go and make a difference. The cost covers:
Our flights.
All accommodation for the duration of the program.
All ground transportation in country.
Bottled water and basic food.
Building materials needed for volunteer project.
Hiring of local skilled trades people to assist in the volunteer projects.
A monetary donation to the local host organisation.
The benefit of giving to OUR cause is that we can update you on the impact that your donation has made. You KNOW that your money has made a difference.
