My name is Vicki Thomas and I am going to teach in a school in Thaba Tseka in Lesotho, South Africa for five months. The country is desperately poor and the school lacks most basic resources that we take for granted - there is no electricity in the school! The children love going to school and the teachers do their best under extremely difficult circumstances. I would like to raise £500 to provide a variety of resources to help stimulate and enhance the children's experience in school. Examples would be white and coloured paper and card, pens, pencils and exercise books, scissors, basic sports equipment etc.

Lesotho is a twinned country with Wales and I am travelling with the charity Dolen Cymru who have strong links with the country since 1985.

Identified by the UN as a least developed country, Lesotho is a beautiful mountainous country known locally as the 'Kingdom in the Sky' or the 'Mountain Kingdom.' With nearly a quarter of its population living with HIV/AIDS and life expectancy down to 47, the partnership work makes a real difference enabling children and families to achieve their potential.
