As many of you know I am currently training to be a nurse. As part of this I have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to the developing world to work alongside other health care professionals in hospitals and remote villages. Due to a lack of funds to pay for medical care, we will witness some shocking medical conditions. The highly dedicated and caring medical staff do their very best with both limited resources and equipment.

Part of my role will be helping to diagnose and treat unfamiliar conditions as well as providing life changing medical assistance. The families who live in the villages often cannot afford to go to hospital until it is absolutely necessary or in unfortunate circumstances where they cannot visit a hospital at all. They desperately need the support, funding and guidance of our nurses. The hospitals are ill-equipped, which will not only provide a different learning experience for myself and peers, but also give us a greater appreciation and understanding of our UK health care system. The environment which we will be exposed to will truly highlight the health care inequalities across the world, and the small gesture of me being there will make a huge difference to those who need our help the most.

As a nursing student I need to complete 3000 hours in health care settings to achieve my qualification which is unpaid work as well as attending university. This invaluable experience is estimated to cost around £3000. Funding this alone feels like an impossible task and any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated, to help me achieve my goal to provide much needed aid and a unique learning experience which will stay with me forever.
