    Story

Iuliana Bordas and Walter Ioanovici are a young married couple and their surnames are different which is common in Romania as it costs money to change names when married. They came to Scotland for a new life and Walter very quickly obtained employment. The couple were well liked by the Scots. He spoke 5 languages and studied French at Lyon University France and had worked in Portugal and Germany.Iuliana 24 had colon cancer in 2009 then was in remission but sadly her cancer returned. She was admitted to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and Walter never left her side staying with her day and night as she did not speak English. He had to give up his job and money was tight. He considered taking her back to Romania but doctors said she was too ill to travel.Walter's kidneys then sadly failed and he was put on dialysis. Iuliana and Walter were in the hospital together but he managed to give her comfort and their beds were moved together. The hospital staff were wonderful and loved the couple dearly and took them to their hearts.
Daniella Iuliana's sister and her partner Claudio came from Romania to give her support. Her conditioned deteriorated and sadly she died on 13th November.Walter has to take Iuliana back to Romania for burial as that is their custom and there is no funding in this country to assist him. Walter was such a truly wonderful husband and I hope the Scottish people will rally round to help him take Iuliana back to her homeland in Romania. This will cost several thousand pounds and he will have to pay his own travel and Daniella's costs back to Romania. The families in Romania are so desperate to have Iuliana home that Walter's mother has put her house up for sale a truly overwhelming gesture for anyone to make such is their love for them both.Walter would eventually love to come back here where with more study he could be a much needed interpreter. In Romania wages are approx.£150-£200 per month. Please donate to help Walter take his dear wife Iuliana back home.

Many many thanks to everyone who donated on Walter's Justgiving page. It was so generous of you all to give to his cause enabling Walter's wife Iuliana to travel by plane to her homeland in Romania for burial. It was such a sad time for all his family and they thank you all for your kindness. Many thanks, Jennifer

Unfortunately we have only had one donation and it is such a shame that the newspaper who published the story said that Walter did not have a job but he was a very hardworking man and he had to give up his job to care for his wife who did not speak English. It is so stressful for him as it will be another fortnight before all the required papers and plans for transporting Iuliana to Romania are ready and this again depends on receiving funding from supporters. His dreams have been shattered as he was so looking forward to a new life in Scotland
