On Sunday 23rd April, I will be lacing up my running shoes and hitting the streets of London and joining over 35,000 other runners to do the London Marathon, I will be doing this in memory of my father-in-law who had Alzheimer’s and wanting to raise as much money as possible for "Avon Valley Dementia Support".

The present Alzheimer's Society Fordingbridge Activity and Music Group will be passed over to the new charity "Avon Valley Dementia Support" from April 2018. They are working closely with the Society in this respect and are busy fundraising to ensure a safe and smooth transfer in April of next year. It is essential that the group continues as they provide immeasurable support for people with dementia and their carers. The group offers not only support but a safe and pleasant environment where people with dementia can feel safe and included in every way and where carers can give and receive support to each other. For this alone the group is unique and must be continued, the dementia journey is extremely hard and having a group like this helps keep many people with dementia at home with their carers for much longer. The Alzheimer's Society Dementia Support Workers and Dementia Advisors will continue to advise and support the new Charity.    Our thanks are extended to the Alzheimer's Society and we wish them all the very best for the future.
