Our aim is to raise £7000 for life changing treatment to cure my best friend of Lyme's Disease, this is her story. 4 years ago my best friend was the liveliest, happiest and strongest women i know. Fit and healthy a black belt in karate, she was stupidly active. Full of life she did everything for other people, she was constantly running around for everyone, she participated in everything, she was superwoman, full of hope, vision and passion. Now there's nothing, a single mother with no life left. I've watched my best friend slowly deteriorate in front of me. We went from spending every moment laughing to every moment crying. I've watched her in unbearable pain and emotionally breakdown over and over for the last 4 years. Lyme's disease has taken away every aspect of her life. Wendy was bitten by a tick 4 years ago, she started to get every symptom of Lyme's disease, when she sought medical attention they dismissed her. The thing is with Lyme's disease when its caught early it can easily be treated. However, after 4 years of mis diagnosis the disease is almost impossible to cure. She has reached points of being unconscious at the wheel of her car, she has been rushed to hospital with heart complications, its affected her memory, her breathing, her sleep. After years of research into Lyme's we have discovered that NHS testing is only 30% accurate, the only true diagnosis is a bulls eye rash which Wendy had. We didn't give up, we didn't accept the doctors mis diagnosis we kept pushing, despite doctors frustration we kept bringing back more evidence. We finally gave up with the NHS and taking things into our own hands we raised £450 to have her blood tested by Lyme's Disease specialists Armin in Germany. We finally got the positive result, two weeks ago. There is no effective treatment available on the NHS for chronic Lyme's, her only hope is private treatment abroad, with Lymes Literate specialists.
