I had been a victim of childhood sexual abuse for the past 38 years, not understanding that the early childhood trauma I had suffered had been the cause of anxieties from the age of 8 to severeve depression, anger issues, alcohol and substance abuse throughout my adult life.

I am no longer a sexual abuse victim and now consider myself a survivor. I am looking to use my life experiences to help others overcome the stigma of being abused and to help others with their mental health wellbeing.

I have already completed an Introduction to Counselling and Therapy, I feel I have taken to this profession like a duck to water and know this is the path I should be taking to help others. I am extremely keen to continue to Level 2 and beyond. I was diagnosed with PTSD due to the abuse I suffered as a child in October 2017, due to my recovery I have not been able to hold down full time employment to provide for my young family. As I have recovered, through a combination of therapy and meditation, I am now in full time employment and managing to provide for the family once again, However I really need your help to fund my ambition to help others who are in my previous position. The funds raised will be paying for course fees and the required therapy needed to become a fully qualified counsellor.

The NSPCC report that 1 in 20 Children in the UK were sexually abused in 2017 and with mental health issues on the increase, the requirement for counsellors/therapists is on the rise.
