In 2017 WIL Uganda is embarking on the exciting venture of fundraising to build an Eco Friendly Resource Centre for women and girls in Busembatia village Uganda. We will be fundraising online and in the UK throughout 2017. We're setting the ball rolling on Justgiving hoping to smash our £1500 initial goal!

Why Eco friendly?

We want to build a centre that is truly sustainable in the community. To do that it must have low running costs and be able to manage the small costs that it does have. Solar power is an excellent way to power the whole centre with little cost to the environment or the centre.

Why do women and girls need a resource centre?

Busembatia is a small rural village. Most households do not have running water or electricity. Government funds are scarce and the population live in poverty. Women and girls have no safe space to learn or to access information and services.

We want to create a beacon of hope in the village that women and girls access for FREE. Thats free education classes, free wellbeing classes, free creche, free library and free use of our computer lab.

How much will this cost?

Remarkably we only need around £5000 to build the centre. Of course the more funds we raise the closer we can get to ensuring the centre has all the amenities listed below, has a great renewable energy supply and has its own sustainable source of income.

How will your donation help?

The centre will house:
Community crafts and adult literacy classes
Wellbeing classes
A creche
A library
A computer lab
Community meeting space

The funds raised will help us to buy:
** Land to build in the village
** Building Materials and labour
** Solar power generators and panels
** Laptops for the computer lab
** Toys for the creche
** Furniture
** A play area in the grounds
