Story
On Saturday 20th August 2016 I will be taking on the Kalmar Ironman - a 2.5 mile (3.8km) swim, a 112 mile (180km) bike ride and then a 26.2 mile (42.5km) marathon run – all run consecutively. Training for this event has taken months and has been grueling but I am feeling ready and hope to finish in under 12 hours.
I am doing this for two very good causes - the Chartwell Cancer Trust and Charlie's Wheelchair Appeal.
The Chartwell Cancer Trust are a registered local charity, dedicated to supporting the Chartwell Cancer & Leukemia Unit in the Princess Royal University Hospital.
Charlie is 6 years old and has spinal muscular atrophy type 2, which is a genetic condition that causes muscle weakness and progressive loss of movement. This means Charlie is unable to stand, crawl or walk. £18,000 is needed to fund the new wheelchair he so urgently needs and deserves.
Please help me support these great causes by donating. All costs for the event have been covered by me personally.
