Story
William was lucky enough to be one of the 135 scouts selected after attending a weekend selection event along with 217 other hopefuls from across Wales.
In order to attend the jamboree he will need to raise £3500 over the next 18 months. He is currently planning a host of fundraising activities, such as selling things (bric a brac) at fetes, car boot sales and online. However, it still won't be easy, which is why every donation he receives is greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small.
The event will take place at the Summit Betchel Reserve in West Virginia, USA in July 2019. It is the 24th in history and for the first time it will be jointly hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico and the USA.
The jamboree is all about Scouts from across the world coming together in one place at one time to have fun and look at issues which affect everyone. It is estimated around 50,000 - 60,000 Scouts will be in attendance (the largest turn out ever). The jamboree itself is across a 12 day period with some events afterwards to extend the length to 3 weeks.
Each Scout needs to raise £3500 to attend and a proportion of everyone's money will be put towards helping children from developing countries attend the event.
