Story
The Worcestershire Homeless Appeal was started in 2015 after a Christmas shopping trip, we ran a Facebook campaign to raise 50 filled shoes box’s to hand out to the rough sleepers in Worcester city centre, we had 32 followers on our Facebook page, we raised 365 box’s which allowed us to help more people in need, during 2016 we collected clothing, toiletries, shoes, blankets & sleeping bags which we handed out each month, in October 2016 we launched our Christmas campaign again, that year we also wanted to help homeless families, with gifts, food, clothing & much needed supplies, we had support from Tesco, Spar Stores, Blakemore Group, Blakemore Foundation, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Go Outdoors and all the kind hearted people and local businesses of Worcestershire, at the end of the campaign we had raised 3.5 tones of gifts, food, toys & clothing allowing to be able to help not just the 7 organisations we had originally chosen but 16, we also raised enough money with the help of Go Outdoors to buy a new Sleeping bags, rucksack, 2 pairs of socks and a flask for every rough sleeper in the county of Worcestershire.
This year we have over 3024 Facebook followers who are behind our work with great support, we are running a street kitchen every Sunday night and support a group on a Saturday night, we support them with food donations we collect from Morrisons, Greggs, Nando’s & Bookers without these donations we wouldn’t be able to provide hot food, we are trying to raise money to buy a hot food van to be able to take more food on to the streets and further a field where it’s needed most.
We do this for the people who need it in our communities we feel very humbled to be able to help and support these individuals and families, please help us in our quest xxx
The van will be available to other groups in the county.
