Story
Worcestershire Prostate Awareness Group are a registered charity founded by retired Oncologist, David Baxter-Smith in 2014. David is Intent on saving the lives of men from this relentless, non-discriminatory disease that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives. To date, nearly 100,000 men have been tested, saving hundreds of lives to so far.
1 man dies every 45 Minutes from Prostate Cancer. WPA are Working Towards Changing that Statistic, urging men to Have Their PSA Test
Too many men are dying before their time because they find out they have prostate cancer when it’s already too late, due to lack of obvious symptoms. WPA are promoting the importance of the PSA test, and urging men to have this quick, simple blood test that measures the Prostate Specific Antigen in the blood.
There are many reasons why high levels can be detected, WPA encourage men to seek further medical attention if this is the case as it could be a sign of prostate cancer. The PSA test offers the chance to fight this disease, before it’s too late. It is literally the difference between life and death.
1 in 8 men will be Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer at Some Point in Their Lives
WPA are strong advocates of the PSA test, and believe every single man is entitled to a test. Each test costs £15 to administer, so the WPA rely heavily on donations, from sponsors and individuals having the test. On average, it works out at £4 per person donating to the test. This means there is a big difference between the cost of the test, and the money being collected.
On Average, 9% of men who Attend a PSA Testing Event Require Further Medical Advice, due to High PSA Levels
Every penny raised makes a huge difference, and is the reason WPA can continue to do the amazing work they do. That's why we are on a mission to raise £30,000 for WPA to ensure the PSA testing events will continue, testing thousands more men, saving more lives.
Let's continue to fight prostate cancer, 1 PSA test at a time.

6 years ago249 men tested in Droitwich last weekend! Such an amazing result! The PSA test picked up abnormally high levels in 15 of the men - their levels were showing red. 6 came back with amber results. Although high levels don't always mean a man has prostate cancer, they will always be encouraged to seek further medical advice from their GP. Let's work together to ensure the continuation of these incredible PSA testing events. Be sure to follow my Twitter, @Prost8CancerWR for regular updates and upcoming events!
