There is nothing I love more that capturing a rare glimpse of a badger bumbling across a meadow on a midsummer evening. This cherished moment is something that I want to preserve for generations of Britons to come. Having never run farther than the bus stop, I have signed up to the Bradford 10k this autumn to support Wounded Badger Patrol Cheshire.

Sadly, badgers are currently the victims of a government initiated cull which aims to reduce the transmission of bovine TB to cattle. My purpose here is not to question the science, methodology or motives behind the cull - though these are all spurious - but to raise invaluable funds to support the work of the Wounded Badger Patrol, who have undoubtedly inhibited the total decimation of a British native species.

Undertaking patrols of badger sets at all hours of the day and night, the Wounded Badger Patrol volunteers have met up every night for weeks to safeguard the remaining badgers in their homeland of Cheshire.

Sadly, the badger cull may be extended in 2018, and will highly likely return in 2019. Equipment such as infra-red cameras, high visibility vests and powerful torches will support the Wounded Badger Patrollers. Just a small donation can help as every effort to save this species in their homeland.
