We have been lucky enough to receive £10,000 funding from the National Lottery Community Fund as part of their covid-response budget. With it we started an after-school multi-activity club for young women in the St Austell area that provided opportunities for girls to try new activities, meet new friends and enjoy a healthy, cooked snack together each week. This funding comes to an end on 31st March 2021.

With Lockdown 3.0 in January we had to change our approach to deliver this project as 1-2-1 Personal Training sessions. We continued working with our excellent outdoor instructor team and have managed to put together a programme of 44 outdoor cycling, yoga, SUP, kayaking, multi-skills, 'Music and Movement' and 'Superwoman Fitness' sessions. We are also still providing hot drinks and snacks to everyone who attends.

Looking forward, we are hoping that we will be able to get together as a group as soon as the covid guidance allows, but until that point, we will continue to deliver in this new 1-2-1 format. We have managed to spend some of the grant on buying some kit to allow us to work in this way including a new single sit-on top kayak, a SUP, a portable shelter, walkie talkies etc. We have also spent some on upskilling our staff in First Aid, Advanced Safeguarding and Food Hygiene so we can all safely deliver our sessions.

This online sponsorship event will give our 'This Girl Can' community an opportunity to do something awesome together again, albeit online, and will give the girls a chance to give something back improving the financial sustainability of the group.
