York St John Swimming club and Rowing club have teamed up to raise money for the York Rescue Boat charity. A swimathon will be taking place on 10th March 2018 to raise as much money and awareness for the York Rescue Boat.

In the last 15 years there have been 24 deaths in the River Ouse. The York Rescue Boat charity was set up in 2015 to help educate and protect river users to help reduce the number of accidental deaths. This charity helps to protect the local communities around York to stay safe near the River Ouse. Crew engage with river users, advising general river safety and conduct. There are a number of volunteers that educate in local schools and universities including both theory and practical demonstrations.

By raising money, the York Rescue Boat will be able to fund more resources to help as many people in and around York as possible. We would be grateful for any donations, big or small, to help this extremely good cause. Thank you!
