Story
Every Friday a small group of volunteers gather together to make sandwiches, hot food and warming tea, coffee and soup. This is rapidly loaded into a minibus and the group drive into London, passing the wealth and heights of Knightsbridge to visit inhabitants in another side of London, near Temple station. The bus sets down and over the space of the next hour, set about feeding the poor and homeless of London. Most of the recipients do not fit the stereotype of being alcoholics or drug addicts or organised beggars - but are individuals who have encountered life changing events such as child abuse, losing a job or becoming mentally or physically ill. As well as not having a home, many are subjected to verbal and physical violence from strangers whilst on the streets - all contributing to the feeling of being worthless, unwanted and unloved by society.
Your kind contribution to this cause will give someone respite from the cold, some warming food and some care and a little dignity on the cold streets of London.
Zach chose this cause, in his own words "because the homeless people are poor and they must feel really sad as they don't have the things that we have, like a house and food"
Your small donation to this cause is most gratefully received. A maximum of £5 per donation will be enough to feed many! Zach sends his thanks and will personally deliver the money to the volunteers at the Immaculate Heart of March Church on the following Friday!
"These things become the norm. That some homeless people die on the streets due to cold is not news. In contrast, a 10 point drop on the stock market is a tragedy. A person dying is not news but a stock market drop is a tragedy! Thus people are disposed of, as if they are trash" - Pope Francis

6 years agoHi Class 2B. This update is long overdue but just wanted to say a huge thank you for your very kind and generous donations! We genuinely only wanted £5 per person, but you went way over and above what was asked for and we raised £170 - thank you so much. Below are some photos of Zach dropping the cash off to the Homeless Run at our Church who drive into London every Friday. The homeless group that make the food and distribute were touched. They have been running for 27 years now and with costs going up, it makes a difference. Thanks once again.
