Just over two years ago our amazing son Zachary was born 12 weeks early and spent the first 9 weeks of his life in Neo-natal Intensive care. As a result of being born so early it was discovered that Zachary had endured some brain damage during birth in the form of Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL). The PVL means Zachary has Cerebral Palsy (CP) which effects his whole body movement.

Zachary is proving to be a very bright determined little boy and inspires us everyday, and our aim is to ensure we utilise his determination by providing every opportunity we can for him to reach his full potential.

We are therefore looking to raise enough funds to allow Zachary to have specialist therapy sessions to help improve his movement with the view to getting him sitting up unaided and hopefully walking in some shape or form in the future.

The therapy is the Anat Baniel Method which is aimed at creating new pathways and connections in the brain allowing young children with brain injury to improve their motor skills. The understanding is that the key time to make these new connections and pathways is in the first few years of life up to around 3-4 years old. Ideally we would like to try and get out to see Anat Baniel at her centre in California, however initially we are looking to have some sessions with a Practioner in the UK, there are only 3 registered practioners, 2 in London and 1 in Cumbria.

We are planning to see the Practioners in London initially to see how Zachary gets on.
