    Story

We are a group of string players called ZIM STRINGS. Busking in Cambridge, we have been supporting 5 school children living in zimbabwe (Motion, Tariro, Prince, Matthew and Pedzisai) and Moses (who is not at school but requires a wheelchair) financially for eight years.
These children were chosen by Glendah, our friend who lived in Cambridge for a while before returning to Botswana. Unfortunately, last year Glendah died, but her husband has made the commitment to continue supporting the children.

Last year's email included a summary of the worsening quality of life for these children:
"In Zimbabwe, things are still not working at all. Life is getting tougher and tougher by the day. Poverty levels continue to worsen. Government economic policies are very unpopular and this has negatively impacted the welfare of school going children. Many people in the country today earn very low wages, with some going for months without pay. The country abandoned its own currency (the Zimdollar) and is now using the American dollar, in addition to other foreign currencies. Interestingly US coins are not available, hence when you buy a small item which costs SAY, less than one US dollar, you are given ‘change’ in the form of some such small item (like a box of matches) – whether you like it or not."

Even with the money we give, Glendah's family still end up having to pay to cover the costs. In the email they mentioned to us that
"With regard to the money previously received from the Zim Strings children, we have meticulously maintained a record of expenditure. Last year we received an amount which translated to $715 (US Dollars). In all, the expenses for the year came up to $ 1 345. This meant my family met the shortfall and we were very happy to do so."

Thank you for reading this and we would be so grateful if you would consider helping these children to an education and necessities that we all take for granted.
