Story
I am a third year student midwife and i have been given an amazing opportunity to travel to Kenya helping children to get secondry education.
As student midwives, we will be visiting various areas of the Maasai community including the local clinic and school and talking to the women and girls about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). FGM affects over 200 million women and girls across the world. It violates basic human rights and is deeply rooted in gender equality and discrimination. FGM has zero health benefits and often results in lifelong health problems, increased risks during childbirth, psychological trauma, and even death. FGM has abolutely no health benefits at all and often causes lifelong health problems, increased risks during childbirth, psychological trauma, and even death. It involves a mixture of cultural, social and religious traditions associated with preparing for adulthood and marriage, and ideals of community, modesty and fidelity.
We are aiming to raise funds to enable this venture to happen. This is an amazing cause so please donate anything you can so we can help make a difference!
