We provide compassionate hospice care to improve quality of life right to the end

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mum was diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer in February 2018. She was immensely brave and selfless to the end, surrounded by friends and the family she had so lovingly supported, encouraged and dedicated her life to. In the last 2 weeks of her life, the Princess Alice Hospice provided Mum with fantastic care, keeping her as comfortable and pain free as possible. It was a great source of comfort to the family knowing that she was being looked after so well by such a great team of dedicated staff. It was where she wanted to spend her final days.

So through this challenge I hope to do a little bit to support this amazing charitable organisation, which provides free, high quality end-of-life care. To do this, they need to fund raise a significant proportion of their £10m annual costs.

Mike and Andreas will be joining me on this cycle ride across Switzerland - not exactly the flattest of countries! We are planning to ride the Alpine route, starting in St Margrethen near the border with Austria, and finishing in Chatel just beyond Switzerland's western border with France. We will be covering over 500km in 4 days with over 11km of elevation. And there will be no electric motors involved!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

At Princess Alice Hospice, we provide exceptional end of life care in our hospice and in the community. We know we can’t prevent death, but we do whatever we possibly can to make it the best it possibly can be. But, above all, we believe that hospice care is for living.
