In January 2015, my Dad, Jon, was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour which was operated on and removed. However, the tumours repeatedly grew back, and despite five subsequent craniotomies, in January 2018 they became cancerous and inoperable.
Dad battled admirably for a further six months, but unfortunately lost his battle on the 18th of July at Salisbury Hospice.
The care the Hospice Charity gave to not only my Dad, but also our entire family was phenomenal and they made a very tough time slightly more bearable for all of us. They have continued to support our family in the months since his passing, which has been a source of great strength for myself, my Mum Karen, and brothers, Tom and Ben.
To show how grateful I am for the work of the Hospice, and in memory of my Dad, in July 2019, I, along with my father-in-law, Cliff, plan to cycle 442 miles to the nine Waitrose and Partners stores Dad worked at, over a 34 year career.
This journey will begin in Peterborough, and visit Kingsthorpe (Northampton), Dorking, Chichester, Havant, Gosport, Dorchester and Sidmouth, finishing at his last branch, Lymington - in the New Forest.
The Hospice rely hugely on donations to be able to give continued care to people who need it most. We hope you can support this journey, and any donations will be gratefully received.
Thank you.
