We raise funds to provide refuge for unwanted animals

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary has been caring for unwanted and
abandoned farm and domestics animals since 1939.  It was set up by the Duchess of Hamilton
& Brandon for men and women going off to war who had no-one to take care of their animals. The Sanctuary moved to Somerset in 1975 and in their 80th Year, Porter Dodson Yeovil Office have chosen them as their Charity of the Year.

Although the sanctuary is for animals, they provide vital support
for people who look to them for help when they are going through troubled times and have to give up their animals. This can be for many reasons, including losing their homes, illness and changes in their personal circumstances.  In so many cases the owners are distraught and this becomes a vital lifeline to people when they have nowhere else to turn. The sanctuary also offers a quiet space for people with dementia and learning difficulties, including a sensory garden for children and adults with autism and a flower bed for people with dementia.

Ferne are always looking for support with their mammoth vet
fees, improvements to their premises and providing the very best care and they simply cannot run the sanctuary without the funding they receive from donations and sponsorships.  The three main projects at present are a new cattery, a bigger barn to store the winter hay and a purpose built training and development area for assessing dogs for
re-homing.

Both Jess and I have been inspired and want to get involved
with the fundraising by doing something extreme!

Thank you for your support!
